Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed how he knew Ryan Giggs was destined for greatness when he threw him into training against former England star Viv Anderson.
"He ran across the pitch and he was so light I don't think his feet touched the ground. It was like watching a cocker spaniel chasing a bit of silver paper in the wind. We were all like, 'wow'," said Ferguson. "When he got to 15 we put him against Viv Anderson in training.
"Viv was going, 'Boss, what are you doing? He's a small kid, you can't do this...' Then Ryan got the ball - bom, bom, bom - and Viv's going, 'Jesus Christ!' That's Ryan - he was a phenomenal kid and now he's a phenomenal man."
