Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is furious he has lost out to Arsenal in the battle for Cardiff whiz Aaron Ramsey.

The South Wales Echo says United believed the deal to take the Welsh teenager to Old Trafford was virtually done and dusted.

But Arsene Wenger's persuasive charms in flying Ramsey out on a private jet to Switzerland to meet him and sell the Arsenal dream won the day.

United boss Ferguson was stunned when told of Ramsey's decision early yesterday morning.

There were reports on national radio that Fergie was furious at what he saw as a snub from Ramsey, particularly as the youngster opted for their arch-Premiership rivals Arsenal instead.
