Man Utd boss Ferguson frustrated over corner goal being disallowed

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted frustration over the disallowed goal from their unique corner routine against Chelsea.

Wayne Rooney casually rolled the dead ball a few feet from the flag before walking away. Then Ryan Giggs ambled over and played on, whipping over a cross converted by Cristiano Ronaldo. Manchester United

It was ruled out because referee Howard Webb had not signalled for the corner to be taken. It was inspired by a move between Celtic's Bobby Lennox and Jimmy Johnstone in their European Cup quarter-final against Yugoslav side Vojvodina Novi Sad on their way to winning the trophy in 1967.

Fergie said: "I always hoped that I would be able to do it at some stage of my career. I tried at Aberdeen but we never managed to score from it. And then we scored from it against Chelsea at last and it got chalked off!"
