It was ruled out because referee Howard Webb had not signalled for the corner to be taken. It was inspired by a move between Celtic's Bobby Lennox and Jimmy Johnstone in their European Cup quarter-final against Yugoslav side Vojvodina Novi Sad on their way to winning the trophy in 1967.
Fergie said: "I always hoped that I would be able to do it at some stage of my career. I tried at Aberdeen but we never managed to score from it. And then we scored from it against Chelsea at last and it got chalked off!"
