Man Utd boss Ferguson eager to avoid Barcelona

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to avoid Barcelona in the Champions League knockout round.

After watching Barca destroy Real Madrid 5-0 Ferguson is in no rush to meet the Champions League favourites.

He said: "I watched El Clasico and it was fantastic. It was a typical Barcelona performance.

"We know they can do that to teams. It was like us last week against Blackburn. They got us on song for the first time this season.

"We will play a strong side against Valencia because we want to be top of that group.

"Madrid are top of their group, Barcelona are top and Bayern Munich are top. It's not that you're afraid of them - but you want to keep them out of the road until later.

"Valencia will want to be top of the group, too, so it should be an interesting game.

"They changed their system for the first time I can remember when they played Villarreal a few weeks ago.

"They went five at the back which is unusual for them. They've always had a back four with one sitting in front but they might do something different when they come here."
