Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has no doubts over stand-in centre-half pair Wes Brown and Jonny Evans.
Ferguson is resigned to being without Rio Ferdinand for Tuesday's Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow, while Nemanja Vidic's involvement hinges on the results of a visit to a specialist.
"There was a lot made of Rio and Vida's absence in the papers but when you've got Wes Brown and Jonny Evans as your back-up then it's not too bad," Sir Alex told MUTV. "Take Ferdinand and Vidic out of the Premier League partnerships and there aren't many better than Brown and Evans.
"I think the players worked very hard. We found it difficult in the first half and Blackburn set out their stall very well. They're a real threat on set pieces and their delivery is second to none. We had to handle that and our defenders did that."
