Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is furious over reports of a bust-up with Wayne Rooney.

The Daily Star Sunday says Fergie was so incensed that he banned a couple of national newspapers from attending his press conferences at Carrington after reports that Rooney was about to the go the same way as the likes of David Beckham, Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ferguson now intends to offer the striker a new two-year deal.
