Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has described Anderson's first season in England as "sensational".

Ferguson said: "He has been superb, really amazing. We were only looking at him maybe getting an odd game here and there but the injury to Paul Scholes changed that.

"He's grasped his chance and the boy has been sensational.

"He can graft and has a good appetite for the game. It was interesting to see him have that confrontation with Steven Gerrard at Anfield last week - it was great."
