Man Utd boss Ferguson admits Ronaldo showdown over form

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he's held talks with Cristiano Ronaldo about his recent form. The Sunday Mirror says Ferguson has run out of patience with Ronaldo's petulance - both in games and training.

Ronaldo, who was left on the bench for yesterday's game at Sunderland, has recently made mistakes that led to goals for Aston Villa and Porto and Ferguson said: "I don't accept that from anyone.

"I speak to Cristiano about it. He's not immune from that."

Ronaldo's growing impatience is fuelling talk that his £75million move to Real Madrid will finally go ahead this summer.

Ferguson's revelation is a clear sign that he now believes it is time to get tough with the world's No.1 player.

"He always feels he's not getting the proper protection from referees and I think that in a few cases it is right," said the United boss.

"But there are also a lot cases where it's not right. It's hard when a player who wants to entertain all the time doesn't get everything his own way. But you can't get everything your own way - that's just the way football is."

Ferguson added: "Cristiano understands that now and there's not a problem.

"It's just a frustration because he feels he doesn't get the decision. He gets upset about it. I think he obviously knows he's letting himself down more than anything and he has held his hands up.

"I have had to remind him about certain things, but I'm not getting into what's been said."
