Man Utd boss Ferguson admits he sees Blackburn defender Jones as Ferdinand successor

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is serious about a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones.

The Lancashire Telegraph says Jones met with Steve Kean yesterday morning to discuss his future and the player is believed to have told his manager he would like the opportunity to listen to other clubs should they match Ferguson is also a known admirer and has told sources close to him he sees him as long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen.
