Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed an injury for Darron Gibson.
Gibson faces a spell on the sidelines after manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the midfielder has picked up an injury in training.
The ankle problem is set to keep the 25-year-old out of European qualifying action with Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland but the boss hopes it is nothing too serious.
"Darron got a crack in training the other day," revealed Sir Alex. "He's withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland team.
"There's no break or anything like that but it's pretty bad bruising. He's out for Ireland and is staying with us at the moment."
