Phil Jones has revealed that Manchester United have been left very disappointed after failing to beat Hull City on Wednesday night.
Despite enjoying domination throughout the clash, United drew 0-0 with Hull at Old Trafford and the result was the Red Devils' ninth draw of the current Premier League campaign.
Jones has spoken about the game and has stated that the team is very disappointed at not being able to claim the three points on the night, especially as all of their rivals had dropped points on Tuesday.
He told MUTV: "We needed to win tonight, especially with the results yesterday which fell in our favour.
"We said before the game that this was our chance to put some pressure on the teams above us.
"We knew that teams around us would slip up and they have done, but we couldn't capitalise on it. We're bitterly disappointed. The lads are down in the dressing room, as you'd expect.
"Of course, but straight after the game you're not looking too far ahead. You're just disappointed with the game, how things have gone.
"I don't think we played too badly tonight. We moved the ball well in patches but just couldn't get the goal. It's been the same story a few times here at Old Trafford."
