Manchester United stewards have been warned off wearing green and gold scarves.

The Sun says over half the fans in the Stretford End now wear them in protest at the Glazer ownership.

The colours represent the club in its original form as Newton Heath.

Five stewards who wore them for the Carling Cup semi-final second-leg clash on Wednesday were sent home without pay.
