Manchester United have slapped a £12million asking price on central defender Jonny Evans amid interest from West Bromwich Albion and Everton.

The Daily Star is reporting that Evans is surprised at the hefty price tag as he is currently out of favour at Old Trafford and off contract at the end of the season.

West Brom are understood to be hopeful of securing Evans for a smaller fee, while Everton have reportedly identified the 27-year-old as a potential replacement should John Stones leave for Chelsea.

Evans has also been linked with a move to Sunderland, where he has had two separate loan spells.
