Manchester United are making enquiries after Peterborough United defender Ryan Bennett.

Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing up one of his son Darren's prize assets at Peterborough - 6ft 2in England Under-21 defender Ryan Bennett, says the Sunday Mirror.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson said: "I spoke to my dad and he likes Ryan, always has. But unless we get a massive offer there is no way the chairman would sell."

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony said on Twitter: "Had interesting chat with the gaffer.

"Seems his 'pops' could be in the mix with other clubs for a certain player. But Posh has never been a selling club under me unless it is what's needed, relax."
