Manchester United and Arsenal had scouts posted for Academica's clash with Sporting Lisbon on the weekend.

No less than 18 foreign clubs had representatives in the stands for the match, including United, Arsenal and Everton from the Premier League.

Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley was checking on Academica striker Éder, who is off contract in June.

United have interest in several Sporting players, including Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Stijn Schaars and Daniel Carrico.
