Sporting CP coach Jorge Jesus is desperate not to lose Gelson Martins in January.

With Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal circling, Sporting are struggling to secure Gelson to a new deal.

"I'm not prepared to lose Gelson, but anything can happen in football. I'm prepared for this to happen one day," began Jesus.

"It's my role to empower players. Last season there were two [João Mário and Islam Slimani] who were sold. But it gives me pride, helping the players who play with me. It's my job to increase the value of players and teams. It is the result of the work we have done over the years, usually with these results, but it is the president of Sporting who has to decide these issues, it is not me."
