Manchester United have made an approach to Sevilla sports director Monchi.

Sport says United made contact with Monchi last week about taking charge of the club's football department. But it's suggested the Spaniard immediately turned them down.

The reason? Monchi had no interest in working with United manager Jose Mourinho.

It's suggested Monchi has told Sevilla president Jose Castro he wishes to leave the club at the end of this month's transfer window.

Roma and Barcelona have also been linked with the sports director.
