Manchester United are using compassionate grounds in their appeal to UEFA on having Darren Fletcher's red card overturned after being sent-off in United's 3-1 defeat of Arsenal in Tuesday night's semi-final second leg. The Scotland international was dismissed in the second half despite clearly nicking the ball from Cesc Fabregas in his challenge.
UEFA rules state that they will not consider any appeals over red cards unless it is a case of mistaken identity, while Rosetti has yet to pass comment on his decision.
However, the club were encouraged by UEFA general secretary David Taylor's comments on Thursday as he said his organisation would perhaps be willing to look at the incident.
