Manchester United first announced David Moyes' appointment on Facebook.
The Sun says Everton and United yesterday confirmed Moyes will leave the club in order to take the Old Trafford job on a six-year contract.
And before United revealed a deal for the Scot, the club's 33 million fans on Facebook got a glimpse into the future with a message to welcome Moyes.
Under the headline #UNITEDCONTINUED, fans were invited to send a personal message to the new boss.
The gaffe, which was soon removed, would have left Old Trafford bigwigs red-faced.
However, the news of the appointment was confirmed just a couple of hours later at 4pm.
