Sir Alex Ferguson has rated the importance of beating Liverpool after Manchester United won 2-1 at Old Trafford today.
Ferguson's side stayed seven points clear on top of the table despite Manchester City's 2-0 victory at Arsenal and the United manager was thrilled with maximum points for his team against their old arch enemies.
"Winning against Liverpool is important. It doesn't matter where you are in the league," he said.
"Manchester United-Liverpool games are fantastic challenges.
"They are the two most successful teams in the country. Today hopefully those three points will be very important."
