Both Manchester United and Everton passed up the chance to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid.
That is the intel from Spanish football expert Guillem Balague who suggested that the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been offered to the Red Devils and the Toffees in the past but the Premier League duo have opted not to sign him.
Saul created headlines around the world with his stunning solo goal in last week's 1-0 Champions League semi-final first leg win over Bayern Munich.
"Saul was offered to Everton when he was 18, and they said no, and he was offered to Manchester United a year-and-a-half ago and United decided not to go for him," Balague said on Sky Sports' La Liga Weekly Podcast.
"We have been saying on Revista for two years that he will become one of the best midfielders in Europe and he is on the way."
