Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has narrowly avoided injury due to a kitesurfer!
The Dutch squad were visiting Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro in order to wind down ahead of a gruelling month-long fight for glory in Brazil, reports the Manchester Evening News.
But a rogue kitesurfer threatened to hand a severe blow to their chances of success, colliding with both Van Persie and team-mate Daryl Janmaat as the pair walked along the shore.
Fortunately for manager Louis van Gaal, neither suffered serious injury.
RVP: I've not been injury free for six years
"I almost got a kite on my head," Janmaat told NIS. "There was a man kitesurfing and he fell on the very spot where I was.
"[But] there is nothing to worry about. "
