Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is adamant he's in great shape going into the new season.
Rooney has hit back at critics who claim his best days are behind him by saying he is a more complete all-round player now.
Rooney, 30, said: “I think people always look back and say, 'Am I the same Wayne Rooney who was 18?'.
“Of course I am not. I am a different player.
“Back then I was raw, I didn't know the game as well as I do now. Now I feel I am a better player all round.
“Back then there were moments of just head down, go and do it. Now you think about the game more and I think I can bring a lot to the team.
“I don't think anyone is the same at 18 and 30 but I feel good, I've always been confident in my abilities.
“In the last seven or eight years there have been doubters but it's down to me to prove them wrong."
