Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney isn't after the vacated No7 shirt.

United greats George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Bryan Robson have all graced the No 7 shirt and Rooney could have been next, following Cristiano Ronaldo's £80million move to Real Madrid.

But a source told the Mail on Sunday: "Even at United he is following great players like Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, Dennis Viollet to name just a few who wore No 10.

"But internationally the number has been even more famous by players such as Pele and Maradona.

"Wayne regards it as an honour to wear such a famous United shirt."
