Man Utd ace Rooney: Neymar deserved Goal of the Year

Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney wasn't bothered missing out on Goal of the Year last night.

He was narrowly beaten into second place by Neymar for the Ferenc Puskas award for Best Goal of 2011.

The United star's overhead winner against Manchester City on February 12 last year polled 30 per cent among 1.3million TV viewers but Neymar's solo effort for Santos against Flamengo got 42 per cent.

Lionel Messi's strike against Arsenal in the Champions League at the Nou Camp came third with 28 per cent.

Rooney added: "I wasn't really disappointed to lose out tonight. To be honest it's the first time I've seen Neymar's goal.

"It was incredible, he beat about six players. It's a great goal so I'm not too bothered."
