Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney admits he's loving his deeper role.
In recent months, Rooney has become both a maker and taker of goals, after being asked by his manager to operate in a more withdrawn role.
It's a position in which the United No.10 has thrived.
Rooney said: "I'm really enjoying myself again, and the new role I've been used in really suits me.
"To be honest, I always played in a more withdrawn role when I was a kid and even when I was a young player at Everton.
"I'd never had a run of games in that position with United.
"But the manager has asked me to play there now and I'm loving it."
Rooney added: "I've always felt it was my natural position because I've always had an instinct to drop deep into space and get more time on the ball.
"Every player likes to score goals, of course, but I feel I'm really making things happen and changing play all over the pitch.
"I'm one of those players who likes to have the ball as much as possible and get myself involved in games without having to rely on others to find me."
