Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says confidence is surging through the England camp ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Poland. Rooney says the players have been inspired by Tottenham winger Andros Townsend's debut.
"It was a great performance by Andros, especially coming into a pressure game like that for the first time and scoring a great goal," said Rooney.
"It was great for him, exciting for us and great for the future. We have some exciting young players. For all the talk about 'there are not enough good English players', we have six, seven, eight of them. You see Townsend, Welbeck, Sturridge, Jones, Smalling, Wilshere, Chamberlain, Walcott there's some talent there. So we're happy with the squad we have and are looking forward to the future."
