Man Utd ace Rashford not going to Euro2016 to make up numbers

Roy Hodgson has reportedly told Marcus Rashford that he can play a key role for England at Euro2016.

The Sun is reporting that Three Lions boss Hodgson has made it quite clear to the 18-year-old Manchester United striker that he has not been selected in his final 23-man quad simply to make up the numbers.

Rashford burst onto the scene for United's first team in February before being called up to the national team and subsequently scoring three minutes into this senior international debut against Australia on Friday.

While many critics suggest Rashford could play a back-seat role similar to that of Theo Walcott at the 2006 World Cup, it is understood that Hodgson has informed the teenager that he will have a role as an impact sub.

England will likely play Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy up front, with captain Wayne Rooney in a deep-lying creative role, which could open the door to second-half introductions for Rashford who has impressed with his maturity and attitude since linking up with the Three Lions squad.
