Paul Pogba has made some surprise revelations regarding the people that have had the biggest influence on his career.

The Manchester United midfielder was asked by Inside United who are the players and coaches that have inspired him over the years.

The Frenchman admits that former Red Devils and Juventus teammate Patrice Evra rates high on the list, but also produced a shock selection in the form of Nicolas Anelka.

Controversial striker Anelka was back and forth from the Premier League during the late 1990s and 2000s, playing for Arsenal, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and of course, United's north-west enemies Liverpool.

Pogba said: "You might be surprised… Nicolas Anelka, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, (Sir Alex) Ferguson as well, (Antonio) Conte.

"Those people have helped me a lot to get where I am now.

"A player I always look up to is Patrice Evra. He's family, that's how I see him, and he's always looked after me, helped me and given me advice.

"He's someone on the pitch who is very serious and very professional, yet away from the pitch he's a brother and someone you can have a laugh with – as you've seen on our videos on Instagram!

"He's someone very important for a football team and for a club, and as a person he's someone who can help you a lot."
