New Barca director Ramon Planes is key in the deal, having just arrived from Getafe a month ago.
Planes is assistant to new sporting director Eric Abidal and is close to Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, says Mundo Deportivo. Raiola was at La Masia last week for talks over several of his clients - including Pogba.
For his part, Pogba - who speaks fluent Spanish - would jump at the chance of moving to Barca.
However, the Catalans, while interested, have Pogba well down on their list of midfield signing priorities: Frenkie de Jong (Ajax), Eden Hazard (Chelsea) and Adrien Rabiot (PSG) are all being considered by Abidal ahead of the World Cup winner.
