Manchester United ace Ryan Giggs is taking his first steps towards management.

The 34-year-old winger - who did not figure in last night's Barclays Premier League win over Bolton - has applied to study for his UEFA 'A' licence in his home country of Wales this summer.

Football Association of Wales technical director Osian Roberts said: "Ryan has indicated that he wants to come and do his licence with us in Aberystwyth in June.

"It is great news for us in Wales and I think it's also great news for football that someone of Ryan's calibre and status will stay in the game.

"With all his experience and expertise he's going to be a great and valued member of the football world in the future."
