Man Utd ace Carrick: Form doesn't count facing Liverpool

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says they can't count on form going to Liverpool.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says they can't count on form going to Liverpool.

Carrick claimed current form counts for nothing when United and Liverpool meet and admitted Brendan Rodgers and his players will be desperate to kickstart their season with a win over their arch rivals.

"These games are a one-off - form goes out of the window," said Carrick, who scored the only goal in Wednesday night's Champions League win over Galatasaray.

"The atmosphere is that little bit more special and the fans are certainly up for it more.

"The fact that Liverpool haven't had the results they wanted so far doesn't really come into it - that's not on our minds.

"It's about us going there and doing the right things.

"We're expecting Liverpool to bring their best game and we'll have to bring our best game too to get a result."
