Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is challenging Arsenal for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

WAZ reports Mourinho has held talks with the Greek defender's representatives regarding a summer move to Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old only has one year left on his current deal at Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga club are reportedly resigned to the fact he will leave this summer.

Arsenal are keen on their own move for the central defender, however Mourinho is understood to have enquired about the defender's availability after learning of their interest.

And the club have reportedly put a €15-20million price-tag on the player as they begin their search for a suitable replacement.
