Man pleads guilty over attack on West Ham defender Davenport

A man has pleaded guilty to a knife attack on Calum Davenport, the West Ham United defender.

Davenport, 26, was left with a 15-inch scar on his leg after the attack in August. He returned to light training recently, reports The Times.

Worrell Whitehurst, the boyfriend of Davenport's sister, Cara, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Luton Crown Court today.

The 25-year-old from Derby also pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Davenport's mother, Kim Stupple, during the incident on the driveway of her home in Bedford.

Whitehurst will be sentenced at a later date.

Davenport pleaded not guilty at Bedford Magistrates' Court last week to causing actual bodily harm to his sister on August 22. His case was adjourned for committal to January 12 at the same court.
