Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has shrugged off missing out on a deal with Arsenal as a younger player.
He had a trial with the Gunners but boss Arsene Wenger decided against signing him, despite the best efforts of Kolo, 31.
Yaya revealed in the Sun on Sunday: "Years ago going to Arsenal was a very good option for me but Arsene Wenger did not consider offering me a contract at the time.
"Kolo desperately wanted me to come but that is life and sometimes things don't work out and maybe for a reason.
"After I decided to leave Barcelona, there were other options for me but City was the best option. When I met Mancini, I didn't need much convincing.
"He was very clear where he was taking the club and how important I would be for City. It was nice to be wanted and nice to prove people wrong.
"I left Barcelona because I felt wasted there. I wanted to play more and, in many ways, I have come to a league that is far more competitive than Spain.
"I am very happy at Manchester City and I hope I have a long and successful future at the club."
