Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is proud to be African Player of the Year.
The Ivorian - who heads off on African Nations Cup duty early in the New Year - admits it is more gongs with City which drives him on.
He said: "Personal awards are wonderful but if you reach your highest level and help your team-mates to win some major honours, that is even more satisfying.
"When I first came to City, when I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something and about us being the best team. We want to make history here. That was the plan when I first signed and we've made a start.
"But there are so many more chapters to be written. I'm really enjoying my football here - so ending my career here would be unbelievable."
