Racing Santander president Francisco Pernia hopes to negotiate directly with new Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra for the sale of striker Nikola Zigic.

Pernia expects to meet with Thaksin in the coming days to finalise the Serbia international's move to Eastlands, says AS.

A £15 million fee has been agreed in-principle and the final word will be left with Zigic. However, Racing are anxious to see the deal sealed as the fee represents a club record.
