Richards began his junior career with one of Clifford's famed Brazilian soccer schools and the Garforth Town boss told the Daily Telegraph: "When Micah first broke into the team at Manchester City, he had not really played at right back. He was a central midfielder and I think that will eventually be his best position.
"For me, he could be a better midfield player than Steven Gerrard because he is more complete.
"People have seen what he can do in defence but not so much what he can do on the ball. He can score goals as well and support the strikers."
He added: "I don't think anyone in the world is a better man-to-man marker and no-one is likely to get round him but people will also eventually appreciate what he can do on the ball.
"He is just a complete player and is exactly the type of player England need. I think he does stand out but we think he can be the tip of the iceberg."
