Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha was happy with his form for England U21 in last month's European Championships.
He told City's website: "It was good because I have never experienced anything like it before. I've only ever seen tournaments like it on television, and I've never been involved in a penalty shoot-out. Before I went away I had three caps, but now I've got eight so it's nice to pick up a few more caps in such a short period of time and gain more experience.
"The reason England did so well was because of our togetherness, not too many people seemed that keen on us out there and the squad had a lot of time together. In that situation you have to bond together as a team if you want to be successful. It's difficult in patches but you learn the importance of being a team, I think that's why we did so well in adversity, and in the end we only just missed out on the final."
