Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has hailed his teammates for the way they've performed during his ban.

He is proud of spirit the squad have shown during his absence and he believes it proves there is strength in depth within the squad.

"Players have stepped up and that's important," he told City's website.

"That gives us even more self-belief, especially when you see other players perform in the manner they have.

"Now we know that if anything else happens this season or in the future, those players will be there and it makes us even stronger."
