Man City's Ireland tells friends he's ready for international return

Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland is ready to return to the Republic of Ireland fold.

Ireland has not played for his country since winning his sixth cap two years ago after pulling out of a squad for personal reasons.

However, it is also understood Ireland was unhappy with some players making fun of his hair-style.

But with the Republic well-placed in their 2010 World Cup qualifying group the midfielder, who has been in good form this season, has hinted he could be ready to resume his career with the Boys In Green.

The Daily Mail says when asked about an international return next year Ireland told a friend: "Yeah but I'm just trying to keep my head down at the moment."
