Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland admits he was angry with the publicity Elano received during Sven Goran Eriksson's reign.

Ireland admits being infuriated that certain fancy dan players like Elano had been getting all the recognition.

The Brazilian was flogged to Galatasaray for £8million last summer as part of Sparky's clearout, And Ireland said: "There was all this talk about Elano and players like that.

"They were getting all the credit but I didn't think they had done enough to earn it.

"He took all the praise and publicity and I felt, as hard as I was working, I never got that."
