Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is close to completing his move to Tottenham. The Sunday Mirror says City are ready to subsidise the Togo striker's wages at White Hart Lane for the next two seasons, and will hand him a significant chunk of the £5million fee as a pay-off.
It means the champions will have to write off almost all the £25m they paid Arsenal for Adebayor three years ago.
City agreed to sell him in a cut-price deal after he spent last season on loan at Spurs.
