Manchester City youngster Raheem Sterling is aware that he cannot take his place in Roy Hodgson's starting line-up for granted.
The 21-year-old has had a less-than-impressive debut season at City, but he is not planning to give up his starting spot in the Three Lions squad for Euro2016, even after criticism regarding his recent display against Turkey.
"The competition for places is really fierce," he said.
"There are loads of players with ability here so no one can take anything for granted. That is one thing I am not doing."
Hodgson will name his final 23-man squad for Euro2016 on Tuesday.
