New York City FC defender Shay Facey has described the arrival of England legend Frank Lampard as 'amazing' for the fledgling club and its supporters.

Facey is currently on loan from NYCFC's parent club Manchester City, where Lampard played last season.

The 20-year-old told mlssoccer.com he was excited to link with former Chelsea star Lampard.

"It's amazing. We've been waiting and waiting, as you already know, as well as everyone involved with the club and the fans," Facey said.

"Everyone has been really excited and today he's here, and I'm sure a lot of the guys after training will be talking to him and getting as much out of him as they can."
