Manchester City have stepped up talks with Porto for defender Eliaquim Mangala.
City have been interested in the France international in the summer, but are now intensifying their pursuit after learning of fresh contact from Manchester United, says L'Equipe.
Porto have so far referred both Manchester clubs to Mangala's €50 million buyout clause.
United manager David Moyes sent a scout to check on Mangala in Porto's 2-0 defeat at Benfica on the weekend.
