Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss has slammed British football.

The Slovak was a star player in the Manchester City U18 side which won the FA Youth Trophy in 2007-08.

He has since spent loan spells at Bolton, Glasgow Rangers and now Espanyol for this season.

And the 21-year-old has admitted he is now learning a different game against all La Liga sides.

"I think it is very fast and is different to the English game," said Weiss. "In England they play long balls, many teams play using the long ball. In Spain it is more passing football. Goalkeepers roll the ball out more or pass to their defenders - they do not hit long kicks as often.

"Nearly everyone here plays 4-2-3-1 , while in England it is usually 4-4-2. I cannot say how much better the Spain national side is than England. But you can say the Spanish game is more suited to international football as their recent results show."

Weiss played in the high-octane SPL last season and helped Rangers to the title. And after making only five appearances in Catalonia so far, he admitted he is still adjusting to the different Spanish style.

"I really enjoyed my time in Scotland at Rangers and that time of game suited me, but now I have to adapt to the Spanish game, which is not easy," he said. "I have to get used to it and do my best over here. Now I am trying to adapt to the game.

"Whether I will stay longer, I cannot say because I have another year on my contract at City after this one."
