Rio Ferdinand believes that Raheem Sterling is flourishing into a 'great player' under Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Sterling endured a difficult debut campaign following his £49million move to City from Liverpool last season but the winger has managed to really prove his worth to the Citizens during the current campaign.
Sterling has improved exponentially this term, scoring since goals as well as providing 14 assists in 33 appearances so far and now ex-Manchester United defender Ferdinand has hailed Guardiola for bringing out the best in the 22-year-old this season.
Ferdinand said on BT Spoer: "He had all the raw materials, pace, strength. But it was his final ball that let him down.
"He's growing into a great player. He wants to learn and Pep Guardiola has to take a lot of credit for that."
Sterling scored City's opening goal in last night's 5-3 victory over AS Monaco in the Champions League.
