Man City winger Silva up for big Wembley performance

Manchester City winger David Silva is excited about today's FA Cup final.

Silva, a European Championship and World Cup winner, says it is as big an occasion as he has had in his career.

He said: "It would be just as meaningful for me in the sense that it's been a good while since City won a trophy or even got into a final, so I know how important it is for the people who follow this club.

"Because I've had such a good time here and been treated so well by the fans, it's important I can give something to them. Give them a victory."

Manager Roberto Mancini believes the first step towards a successful 2011-12 campaign comes with this final as City aim to end a 35-year wait for silverware.

And Silva said: "We've got to a final and reached the top four, the Champions League, so this is the plan we need to be following in the next few years.

"That same upward curve. We aim to be fighting for trophies on all fronts."
