Manchester City winger Oleksandr Zinchenko concedes he needs to put his disappointing loan at PSV Eindhoven behind him.
The Ukraine international, after an impressive first few weeks, struggled to win over PSV coach Phillip Cocu during his season-long deal.
"It was a difficult situation. Everyone inside the locker room were down. PSV were used to winning," he said.
"I also suffered. I didn't meet the expectations. It's always easier if a coach believes in you, but maybe I didn't do enough to convince Phillip Cocu."
Zinchenko continued: "Journalists wrote that I was dropped in the second half of the season back to the juniors, but that was not true.
"I asked for it myself. I did not play and it was important to stay in shape. Cocu said at the end of the season that it was a pleasure to work with me and that he saw progression from me."
